Answering a question.

I had a lot of fun with this weeks Friday's Feast questions. Many have wondered about my dessert: Write a sentence about yourself with one thing that is true and one thing that is not true. I wrote that I was in a national commercial when I was 12 and that my father is the mayor of my home town. So, which one is true?

My father is the mayor of my home town.

I'm sorry to say that Hollywood has not come calling yet. One of the things I want to do before I die is have a line of dialogue in a movie. The closest I have ever come to fame is a girl in my second grade class was filmed about a story on juvenile diabetes. when they showed the footage on the local news, I was in half of the screen! Cut in half by the editing process so all you could see was a little of my face. We would have gotten more airtime but that was the day that the space shuttle Challenger exploded. That is such a sad thing though and I don't like to dwell on it.

As for my father, his job sounds a lot more glamourous than it actually is. He works hard for a town of only about 150. It's more of a village really. He has worked hard to get the town a municipal drinking supply, something he finally got accomplished about 5 years ago. Now he is working to make broadband available to the people in the town who have to depend on dialup now. He tries to keep things as non political as he can to get things accomplished. He is up for re-election this year, the position being a two year odd number elected office. If he wins, he plans on running just one more time then retiring with 30 years of public service.

Whenever I tell people that my dad is mayor, they ask me why doesn't he get me a job. I reply to them, "Doing what, cutting the town's grass? He wouldn't pay me."

As Andy Warhol once said that we will all have our 15 minutes of fame. I am sure that you will get your chance:) Was a great "dessert" though, it kept me wondering until the last minute. Have a great week.

He! I'm glad you answered which one was the truth, since as far as I knew, it could be either one!

Maybe the Friday's feast should always include one where we have to guess the correct answer? That would be kind of fun. :)

Glad you posted an update. I was wondering which one was true. I guessed wrong.

One of my closest friend's dad is mayor of a town. I know it' not an easy job. People don't realize just how much it takes to be a mayor.

The suspense was fun... great dessert!

I do not like those shoes either! My question, why is it so novel to be able to pop wheels out of the back of your shoes to walk 10 feet? On a little more serious note ~ it's kind of the way our society is going, isn't it? These insidious little things just creep in and pretty soon we're just a bunch of lazy slobs. OK, that was way too dramatic for me! hahaha
Thanks for stopping by my feast. I so enjoy "talking" with guys on the blogs... we all put our pants on the same way but we tend to self-segregate. On your early April question about what to write, my blog has made me ask the same question. Hurting people is not my aim, so if I wouldn't want to say something to a person's face, I don't write it. So I have a few things that go unsaid, but you might be surprised that it's not much. I pride myself on being up front and fairly transparent with my friends, so what goes unsaid tends to protect children and their perceptions as opposed to adults who should be able to handle who they are and how they come across to me.
That being said, my blog is not published like you are talking about being published, so it might be a tad different. Good luck, though!
